DORDOGNE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Where Light Remembers Everything
Cristèle is a fine-art and documentary wedding photographer based in South West France, working throughout, capturing château and countryside weddings in the Dordogne since 2014.
With 10 years of experience, 90+ weddings, she works with international couples who want images that feel as beautiful as the day itself.
MEET your PHOTOGRAPHER
I'm Cristèle, and as a Dordogne wedding photographer, I've spent years learning this landscape - its light at different hours, its hidden corners, the way a château courtyard transforms when the candles are lit and the guests fall quiet for the first dance.
I love capturing weddings in Dordogne. It is one of the most romantic regions in France, and one of the most sought-after destinations for couples who want their wedding to feel like a story worth telling for generations.
WHERE STONE CHÂTEAUX meet GOLDEN LIGHT
he Dordogne - known as the Périgord to the French - is divided into four distinct areas, each with its own character:
Périgord Noir (Black Périgord), centred around Sarlat-la-Canéda, is the most dramatic: dense oak forests, cliff-top villages, and the famous Vézère valley. Venues here include Château de Puy Robert in Montignac-Lascaux (a 19th-century estate near Lascaux IV, ideal for exclusive-use weddings of up to 130 guests) and the breathtaking Château de Lacoste, perched above the Dordogne valley with views toward Beynac-et-Cazenac.
Périgord Pourpre (Purple Périgord), around Bergerac, is wine country - rolling vineyards, riverside manoirs, and a gentler, more open landscape. Château du Raysse, a medieval château dating to 1155, sits here: 17 bedrooms, two pools, and grounds that photograph beautifully at every hour of the day.
Périgord Blanc and Périgord Vert offer quieter, more intimate settings - perfect for couples who want a smaller celebration in a private estate, away from the tourist trail.
Whatever your venue, I know the Dordogne's light intimately. I know when the golden hour hits the stone walls of a Périgord Noir château, and I know how to work with the candlelit interiors of a medieval reception hall when the sun has set.
A FINE ART & DOCUMENTARY - A STYLE MADE for THE DORDOGNE
The Dordogne doesn't need embellishment. The light does the work. My role is to be present, attentive, and ready - to capture the moment the groom sees his bride for the first time in the doorway of a 14th-century chapel, and the moment the last guest leaves the dance floor at midnight.
My photography style blends:
Fine-art editorial composition - images that honour the beauty of the setting without overpowering the emotion
Documentary authenticity - unposed, unscripted, emotionally honest storytelling
Sensitivity to light - natural light in the Dordogne is extraordinary; I plan every shoot around it
PLANNING your DORDOGNE WEDDING from ABROAD
Most couples who marry in the Dordogne are planning from the UK, Ireland, the United States, or Australia. The logistics of a destination wedding can feel daunting - but the photography doesn't have to be.
Here is how I make the process seamless:
I speak French, English, and Spanish - so whether you're a British couple marrying in Dordogne, an American family celebrating in the Bordeaux region, or a French couple with international guests, communication is always seamless.
CHÂTEAUX WEDDINGS
in THE DORDOGNE
The Dordogne is defined by its châteaux. Unlike the grand, formal estates of the Loire Valley, Dordogne châteaux tend to feel intimate and lived-in - places where history and warmth coexist, where a stone courtyard can hold a ceremony for 80 guests and still feel personal.
Venues I have worked at or near in the Dordogne include:
Château de Puy Robert - Montignac-Lascaux, Périgord Noir
Château de Sainte Croix - accessible from Bergerac Airport
Château du Raysse- near Bergerac, Périgord Pourpre
Domaine de Cazenac - near Sarlat
Château de Lacoste - Dordogne valley, above Beynac-et-Cazenac
Château La Gauterie - South West France / Dordogne border
Château du Doux - Dordogne region
Domaine d'Essendiéras - Périgord Blanc
If your venue isn't listed here, get in touch - I travel throughout the Dordogne and will happily scout your venue in advance..
WHAT couples SAY
« Cristèle won us over from the very first contact, and she was also unanimously loved at my wedding! I recommend her without hesitation.
She is spontaneous, personable, and ready to capture all the highlights of your day. She juggles her professional cameras and the results are stunning! She blended in perfectly with our group, while managing to be discreet when necessary! She captured moments that even we had missed, and made us look beautiful during the couple's photo shoot.
We have some wonderful photos taken on the spot, so thank you so much, Cristèle! »
